On Monday I was up at 3:30am, my goodness that's early. Cab came at 4:30 is and I was on a plane at 5:30am, got to site at 7am. I looks really different when it's pitch dark outside.
I really don't mind going there but when I go there and back in one day I'm totally knackered by 2pm. I swear I felt like I could nap anywhere.
We get this amazing banana bread on the plane and as 3:30 is a wee early for me to feel like eating breakfast I always opt to eat the BB. Well my first stop was the camp kitchen with my colleague the HRA (human resource analyst). I watched him eat half a plate of scrambled eggs and sausage. I got excited when I saw they had raisin toast but I wasn't hungry.
I then sat through a half hour safety video to get my official I.D. This thing totally reminded me of an afterschool special. There was a quiz and I swear some of the questions were not covered by the video. The security guard marking my test made a little fun of me but in a very good natured way. I'm just happy I have the I.D, no more visitor stickers for me. My colleague sat and waited for me while I did this thing and I thought that was really sweet. I now have a wee crush on the guy even though he's totally lousy at returning emails when you really need information.
Then the last two days have been a blur, we're smokin' busy the day flies by and tonight I had to make a Black Forest Cake for potluck tomorrow. Tomorrow is also trainer day so I'm so excited about lugging a cake and gym gear to work tomorrow.
I've been wrapping my head around all the stuff that's happening at work and I've volunteered myself to be a fly in/ fly out recruiter. As the whole area I supported originally is now on hold for goodness knows how long. I thought it's wise to keep my options open.
It is very easy to eat healthy in camp, they have 9 gyms on the complex and one heck of away to save money as there's nothing to spend it on. We'll see what happens. You'd be in the middle of nowwhere for 4 days and living in a trailer but hey it could be fun.
Alright nothing else to share, if I'm coordinated enough tomorrow morning I'll take a picture of the cake.

mmmm, I'd love to see a picture of that cake!
I think it's so smart to keep your options open the way you have... show 'em how useful and flexible you are, a good person to keep around!
I find that having nothing to do is immensely helpful to fitness. I mean, if the option is between going to the gym and sitting in a trailer doing nothing... the gym's probably going to win. :)
